Mr. Blum is Vice President of Petroleum Capital and Real Estate, LLC and joined the company in 2009. Alan has been involved in the retail petroleum and convenience store industry since 1973 and has over 35 years of experience in the industry. Alan’s first venture in the petroleum industry started in 1973 when he was hired by Exxon USA to manage a small network of company operated gasoline service stations in the greater Baltimore, Maryland trade area. After successfully managing Exxon’s retail sites for approximately six years, in 1979, Alan resigned from Exxon and was awarded three independent Exxon dealerships in the metropolitan Baltimore area. Alan owned and operated the three sites for over 27 years and sold his last Exxon retail outlet in 2005.
Alan has also been actively involved in the business and commercial real estate brokerage business since 1997. During this period of time, Alan was associated with two organizations, Atlantic Business Brokerage and PetroConsulting, Inc. While working for these firms, he concentrated on selling retail petroleum and convenience store businesses, with and without property. However, Alan has also marketed and sold other types of retail businesses such as restaurants, a telecommunications company and a package goods business. Alan’s personal and professional background makes him uniquely qualified to assist any client in analyzing, evaluating and marketing his/her retail business.
Alan is a graduate of the University of Maryland, with a degree in Business Administration, concentration in marketing. He has also been active member of WMDA, Washington Maryland Delaware Association, since 1979 and served as the organization’s Treasurer for three years.
